Nintendo fiscal year sales drop 30% ahead of Switch 2 launch

Nintendo reported relatively weak sales of 1,164.9 billion yen for its fiscal year ended March 31, 2025, down 30.3% from 1,671.8 billion yen a year earlier.

But the company was bullish about its Switch 2 forecast, as it expects 15 million units of Switch 2 hardware to sell in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, and 45 million copies of Switch 2 software. In the same period it expects to sell 4.5 million units of the Switch, and 105 million Switch games.

Nintendo’s net profit for the fiscal year was 278.8 billion yen, down 43.2% from 490.6 billion yen a year earlier.
