Here’s a series of Black Bear photos I took on my upstairs deck

when I lived in the wilderness in Northern Idaho

Bear-CdA-1When I first saw this little bear climbing up the post, I grabbed my camera and started shooting.

Bear-CdA-2He’s continuing to climb, how far will he go? I’m very excited.

Bear-CdA-3Woa, that’s enough! I’m beginning to get anxious. Time to close the glass door.

Bear-CdA-4He’s looking for the seeds I put out to feed the birds; they’re on the tops of the posts.  That’s close enough , Bear.

Bear-CdA-5I’m glad I closed the door! He’s right up on my second story deck. He’s as curious as I am.   He then pressed his nose up against the glass to look at me. Later he just climbed back down the pole, and sauntered back into the woods.  During that time, we had many encounters with curious bears, none with a bad outcome.

I still love Black Bears, and have painted them several times, during my career in nature art. To see more of my paintings, check out my website at http://jacquievauxart.com.

The realistic wildlife fine art paintings and prints of Jacquie Vaux begin with a deep appreciation of wildlife and the environment. Jacquie Vaux grew up in the Pacific Northwest, soon developed an appreciation for nature by observing the native wildlife of the area. Encouraged by her grandmother, she began painting the creatures she loves and has continued for the past four decades. Now a resident of Ft. Collins, CO she is an avid hiker, but always carries her camera, and is ready to capture a nature or wildlife image, to use as a reference for her fine art paintings.
