Until Nintendo fixes it, anyway
by Ryan Craddock 3 hours agoNintendo LifeNot long after Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched back in March, players figured out a way to duplicate items in-game. As you can imagine, the process goes against the nature of the game’s slow and steady progression style – and saves the player a fair few Bells in the process – so Nintendo quickly worked to patch it out with an update.
Now, though, players have discovered another workaround which can be used to duplicate any 2×1 items that can be placed on top of tables. To pull it off, you’ll need to have a 2×2 table in the middle of a room, and then have a 2×1 table next to it with your chosen item on top. From there, you’ll need to play around a bit in the game’s top-down organisation view (the view you get when you press ‘Down’ on the D-Pad).
Here’s an explanation from the folks at Siliconera:
If you place the items, press down to swap to the view where you see an overhead view of the room, then hold the left shoulder button while dropping the 2×1 table with item on it around the center 2×2 table, the 2×1 table will automatically rotate. Exiting the placement mode, leaving the room, and returning will result in the 2×1 item on top of the table still being in all those spaces.

We imagine it won’t take long for Nintendo to patch this glitch out, too, so if you don’t mind a little bit of cheating to kit out your entire house, you’ll probably want to get on this quickly.
