Emergence today announced the launch of the New Worlds Initiative, which offers support for the first 100 World Producers on the Open Metaverse. The Initiative is backed by the $ometa token and Emergence infrastructure, seeking to use this to create a connected “playable cinematic universe” of worlds within the Open Metaverse. Creators have tools and premium access via the Initiative, along with the Emergence SDK and Marketplace.

According to Emergence, the new Initiative is intended to give artists and creatives the chance to “collaboratively shape new worlds and economies” within the metaverse while also retaining ownership of their IP and maintaining an interoperable, cross-platform economy. The $ometa token is a shared token across all of the New Worlds, with some initiative members receiving grants.

In addition to the announcement of the initiative, Emergence also announced the inaugural members of New Worlds. The first is Bunshin Industries, a futuristic version of Tokyo, where players have access to tools that create photorealistic UGC, and can create a variety of on-chain assets with the Emergence SDK. Ryan Gill, Emergence CEO, said in a statement, “Bunshin and its creator encompass exactly what a World Producer is and we are excited to announce them as our first of the New Worlds Initiative.”

Other inaugural members include Kor for on-chain tracking and management of IP, as well as integration with the Emergence SDK; ON1 Force, a community of artists collaborating on a decentralized anime universe; and Basejump + ACTION, an “AI-powered social gaming stack” that allows gamers to earn, buy and mint game assets.
