2020 iPhone Shock As New Apple iPhones Revealed

The release of Apple’s new iPhone 12 range is running late, that much we know. But now new dummy units put everything else in doubt.

Are renders of Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro too good to be true based on newly leaked dummy units?

MORE FROM FORBESiPhone 12 Good News As Apple’s Release Plans RevealedBy Gordon KellySourced by long time Apple insider Sonny Dickson, the units show the three new sizes of the iPhone 12 range, their redesigned chassis, and a shock when it comes to connectivity. In addition to his original images, Dickson has also provided me with further photography.

What immediately stands out, other than their new angular designs (which we have known about for months), is the side of these iPhones. Dickson believes that what looks like a supersized sim tray is in fact a Smart Connector, the magnetic port used on the iPad Pro for attaching accessories and charging the Apple Pencil. The Smart Connector has been strongly tipped for the 2021 iPhone so to see it here, if Dickson is right, is very surprising.

Dickson also provided me with further shots showing the Lightning port. In-line with previous reports, it illustrates that Apple has no interest in adding USB-C to the iPhone.

That said, Dickson also delivered some warnings. The biggest is that the iPhone 11-style notch and cameras you see are placeholders, something that will keep hopes alive of significant improvements here. The same is true for the speaker grills, though the dimensions and curves of the chassis are understood to be final, which emphasizes just how small the exciting new 5.4-inch iPhone 12 will be. This is a truly pocket friendly powerhouse which has no Android rival.
Meanwhile, the wait for news on tantalizing upgrades, such as the 120Hz ProMotion Display Apple’s (remarkable) new LiDAR sensor and the performance of the new A14 chip goes on. But with 5G confirmed along with a lower entry-level price, it looks like these new iPhones will fly off the shelves, regardless.
